It remained closed to Europeans until the Spanish army arrived in 1920. By late afternoon, you’ll arrive in Chefchaouen, where you’ll spend two nights exploring the beauty and history of this unique “Blue City.”

Day 1: Tangier Pick-Up from Airport/Port to Chefchaouen

Your adventure begins with a pick-up from the airport or port in Tangier, where you’ll be driven to Chefchaouen. This stunning town, originally constructed as a hidden refuge to resist the Portuguese on Morocco’s northern coast, remained closed to Europeans until the arrival of the Spanish in 1920. Arriving in Chefchaouen late in the afternoon, you’ll settle in for a two-night stay.

 

Day 2: Exploring Chefchaouen

After breakfast, enjoy a full day of exploration in Chefchaouen. This mountain town, nestled within a natural biosphere reserve, is known for its friendly locals and striking blue and white architecture. Take in stunning views, shop for unique local handicrafts, and enjoy the peace and serenity of this remarkable city.

 

Day 3: Chefchaouen to Fez

Today, continue your journey to Fez, an imperial city dating back to the 8th century. Known as one of Morocco’s spiritual capitals, Fez is home to one of the world’s oldest universities. In the afternoon, relax and take your first steps into this historically rich city, where the past feels ever-present.

 

Day 4: Fez Sightseeing with a Local Guide

After breakfast, embark on a guided tour through the Fez Medina, one of the most captivating old towns in Morocco. As you walk through its narrow streets, you’ll see the traditional guilds at work and experience the city’s deep connection to learning and religion. Visit the famous mosques, Quranic schools, and landmarks that define Fez’s spiritual and educational legacy. Overnight at a hotel or riad.

 

Day 5: Fez - Meknes - Volubilis

After breakfast, head west to Volubilis, an ancient Roman city and Morocco’s most significant archaeological site. Spend time exploring the impressive ruins, and, if you wish, take a local guide to delve deeper into the history of this fascinating location. Next, visit Moulay Idriss, one of the country’s most important pilgrimage sites, before traveling to Meknes, one of Morocco’s four imperial cities. Enjoy free time to explore the souks, coffee shops, and attractions of this historic city. Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel or riad.

 

Day 6: Meknes - Rabat - Asilah

After breakfast, depart for Rabat, Morocco’s capital. Visit key sites such as the Royal Palace, Mohammed V Mausoleum, Hassan Tower, and the Kasbah of Oudayas. In the afternoon, continue your journey to Asilah, a charming coastal town, for a relaxing walk through its picturesque whitewashed Medina. Overnight accommodation in Asilah.

 

Day 7: Asilah - Tangier Airport - Tangier City - Tangier Port
